The mission of the Flathead County Sheriff's Office Explorer Post is to educate the law enforcement workforce of tomorrow by engaging and mentoring todays youth in the career of law enforcement.
As a Law Enforcement Explorer, young adults, ages 14-21 learn exactly what it takes to be a law enforcement officer. Explorers are taught basic law enforcement procedures that will give them the knowledge on how to handle emergency calls for service safely and effectively. Explorers meet year round, this program requires a commitment of at least one year.
Explorers work community events under the supervision of certified Deputy Sheriff's. One of our largest events we support is the Flathead County Fair in addition to school sporting events.
Explorers participate in approximately 3-4 trainings per month from September thru June of each year, at these trainings Explorers are taught skills on how to handle law enforcement calls for service.
Competitions are a great way for explorers to travel, meet other young adults who share their same interests, and network with law enforcement professionals.
Explorers have the opportunity to participate in ride-alongs with patrol deputy's and officers of other Flathead County agencies.
