Between the ages of 14 through 20 years old.
You must reside within Flathead County or attend a Flathead County School.
Membership is free, members are required to purchase duty boots and a belt as part of their uniform. Plan to spend around $150.
Trips out of town for events are also at the Explorers expense. Fees will include transportation, some meals, room and board as well as the price of the conference.
Advisors review prior law enforcement contacts, any criminal charges, and any traffic charges.
Integrity on the application is required, inaccurate information provided on the application is grounds for removal from the program.
Explorers are prohibited from having any record of arrest and/or convictions within the last 3 years.
Explorers may not have any felony convictions at any time.
Traffic offenses do not count for this 3 year requirement but will be evaluated by the Post Advisor.
The Explorer program is run year round, with weekly meetings.
Explorers are required to maintain a minimum attendance rate of 50%. Explorers who wish to participate in ride-alongs must maintain a minimum attendance rate of 75%.
The program requires a commitment of at least one year.
