The Flathead County Sheriff's Office Law Enforcement Explorer Program was founded in 2022 through a partnership between the Flathead County Sheriff's Office, the Flathead County Sheriff's Posse, and Scouting America's Learning for Life program.
Upon its establishment, the program was assigned Explorer Post #2907 by Scouting America. The founding Advisors were Michael Hingiss, Charles Pesola, and Marquis Laude, whose vision and dedication helped create an organization focused on developing the next generation of law enforcement and public safety leaders.
The program began with six Explorer members and has continued to grow each year. Today, the post has a maximum membership capacity of 25 Explorers, and we remain committed to expanding opportunities for young adults interested in law enforcement, leadership, and community service.
The Flathead County Sheriff's Office is proud to operate Montana's only Law Enforcement Explorer Post, joining hundreds of law enforcement agencies across the United States that sponsor Explorer programs. Through training, mentorship, community service, and leadership development, our program provides young adults with unique experiences that prepare them for future careers in public safety and beyond.
Since its founding, our mission has remained the same: to develop responsible young leaders, strengthen our community, and inspire the next generation of law enforcement professionals.
Today, the Flathead County Sheriff's Office Law Enforcement Explorer Program has more than doubled in size since it was founded and continues to grow through the dedication of its members, Advisors, and community partners.
The program is led by a diverse team of experienced Advisors who bring a wide range of backgrounds in law enforcement, public safety, and leadership. Their commitment to mentoring young adults ensures that Explorers receive high-quality training, guidance, and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
We are proud to continue operating in partnership with the Flathead County Sheriff's Posse, whose ongoing support has been instrumental to the success of our program. Our Explorers work closely with Posse members during community events, training activities, and volunteer opportunities, strengthening the relationship between our organizations while serving the citizens of Flathead County.
Together, the Flathead County Sheriff's Office, the Sheriff's Posse, and our dedicated Advisors remain committed to preparing the next generation of leaders through service, integrity, and excellence.
